The Rwandan Genocide was the 1994 mass murder of an estimated 800,000 people in the small East African nation of Rwanda. Over the course of approximately 100 days, over 500,000 people were killed, according to a Human Rights Watch estimate. Estimates of the death toll have ranged between 500,000 and 1,000,000, or as much as 20% of the country's total population. It was the
culmination of longstanding ethnic competition and tensions between the
minority Tutsi, who had controlled power for centuries, and the majority Hutu peoples, who had come to power in the rebellion of 1959–62 and overthrown the Tutsi monarchy.
Rwanda is now a thriving, safe country with one of the lowest crime rates in Africa. The Lord has beautifully restored Rwanda since 1994 and Dana and I had the privileged of visiting Kigali, Rwanda last week. We joined a mission team from Greater Atlanta Christian School (where Dana graduated) and quickly hit the ground running with projects and activities galore! From teaching English alongside Africa Reads in a local school to making fresh bagels with a group of widowed women - we ministered and spoke truth to God's people. It was a great trip of reflection and thanksgiving - to the One who provides and sustains us all. Glory be to God!

Psalm 107:1-3
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
his love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.
